Fees

We are happy to provide detailed information about the fees for the services you seek. Conscious Connections’ providers have various backgrounds, training, and levels of experience. Thus, the fees for services will depend on which provider you see, the length of the sessions, and whether you pay each time you come in or opt for one of our session packages.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of services. Cash, check, and all major credit cards accepted for payment. Most of our services are considered valid expenses for Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds.

Insurance

We have chosen not to work directly with insurance companies (i.e. as “in network” providers) in order to offer our clients the highest level of care without being hindered by the restrictions that come in exchange with using insurance benefits. In the past, we have contracted directly with insurance companies and our experiences were so discouraging that we ultimately decided that it was in our clients’ best interests to work outside of the insurance system. Insurance companies require that a mental health diagnosis be present and assigned to you, in your permanent insurance record, in order for a claim to be considered “valid.” They also place restrictions on the length, number, and frequency of sessions. Thus, we strongly believe that working outside the insurance system offers our clients the utmost privacy and control over their emotional well-being.

If you do have insurance and would like to look into using your out of network benefits, our office manager would be happy to contact your insurance company on your behalf to determine your coverage and benefits for individual counseling or couples therapy. **Please note that United Healthcare recently changed their policies on giving out of network providers information about insurance coverage. If you have United Healthcare, we will provide you with specific instructions on how to check your own coverage.

If you choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, bear in mind that this will require that some type of mental health diagnosis exists, and will be documented in your chart and on receipts that are sent by you to the insurance company. Conscious Connections will provide you with all necessary documentation to submit to your insurance plan, but we cannot guarantee reimbursement for services. 

Depending on the specifics of your plan, treatment may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. If you contact your insurance plan yourself, please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions of your insurance provider:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • Do I have out-of-network benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • What information do I need to submit fees paid for services?
  • What is the claims address?

Cancellation Policy

If you do not attend your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified us at least one business day in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.
