Individual and Couples Therapy

Denver Office

My Philosophy

I believe that healing begins from an increased understanding of the internal self. I work with both individuals and couples to regain solid footing that they have either lost or never felt they firmly had. Whether you are a couple trying to adjust to unforeseen changes and hurt in your relationship or an individual struggling with anxiety and/or depression- I can help. I work very closely with my clients to actively improve quality of life.

I use what research and science has shown works. I rely on evidence based practices and collaborate with you, the client, to create a specialized treatment plan best suit your needs. My down-to-earth personality, active approach, and friendly demeanor make the choice to seek therapy a little easier. I pride myself on offering a partnership and creating a safe environment to help my clients feel comfortable enough to be their authentic self.

Individual Treatment

I specialize in offering support and guidance for those involved in traumatic events, abuse, or suffering from PTSD, anxiety, adjustment and depression. Many of my clients share a similar pattern: something in their life is keeping them feeling stagnant, empty or stuck. My goal is to help clients learn to cope with their symptoms, reduce the severity of symptoms, and go on to lead happy, productive and fulfilled lives. Many times, past experiences or feelings find their way out in nightmares, anger, self-loathing, isolation, depression, anxiety, relationship problems or other distress. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere I offer a tailored approach to healing, as I form a genuine relationship with my clients in order to understand their challenges and how to help them return to a state of healthy well-being.

I know that each of my clients is different and unique, so taking time to truly listen to each individual’s situation and what they are facing is crucial to my work with clients. I engage with each client to identify and find solutions to take the next step in healing. I offer a goal-centered approach, focusing on replacing challenging behaviors, communication, or interactions through enhancing or introducing productive coping mechanisms to help overcome an array of challenges. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapies for Trauma, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my client’s individual needs to help them attain the personal growth they are striving to achieve.

Couples Treatment

I am enjoy having the opportunity to work with couples in my practice, as relationship difficulties do not occur in isolation. Many individuals with or without trauma may find difficulty in maintaining and sustaining healthy relationships. Oftentimes, experiences from the past find their way into an otherwise happy and healthy relationship – leading it to feel as if it is eroding. My goal and training in couples therapy aims to increase respect, friendship, laughter, affection, generate greater understanding, resolve conflict, and communicate needs effectively to increase relationship satisfaction as a unit. I am Gottman Method Level 1 and Level 2 trained, with a sole focus on helping couples build happy and stable relationships.

Professional Background

I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I graduated with two B.S. degrees in Psychology and Justice Studies with honors at the University of Idaho. I completed my pre-doctoral residency training at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital with an emphasis in trauma and addiction in various units throughout the hospital. I completed my postdoctoral training at the VA St. Louis Health Care System, which emphasized Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, phobias, depression and other co-occurring trauma-related disorders. I have worked with a broad range of clients (children, adolescents, and adults of all ages) in a variety of settings (VA hospitals, corrections settings, and community mental health). I routinely treat clients experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulties with adjustment and a history of trauma. I am excited to bring my experiences and specialized services to Denver.

Personal Life

As an avid outdoor adventurist, I love hitting the slopes during the winter and scouting the trails during the summer. I enjoy exploring new outdoor activities, physical fitness, and food. I love traveling, domestic and abroad, with a particular love of the water. Maintaining a holistic view of well-being is a staple of my personality, and I try to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle in mind, body, and spirit.
